I’ll be acting as the moderator of the “Technology and the Future of AVT” roundtable organized by the Portuguese Translators Association (APTRAD) during their 1st International Audiovisual Translation Conference. The two guests who will be talking about technology in the audiovisual segment are David Bryant, with DotSub, and Maarten Verwaest, with Limecraft.
There is really no secret about the fact that the major changes in our century are mostly brought about by technology. This is a time of drastic changes and our profession, crucial to expanding knowledge across the world, could not be left out of this process. As technology circulates information faster than ever, so does the need to translate increase, bringing with it a new demand for the AVT market to cope with the increasing and continuous volume of audiovisual content needing to be translated, through the development of new tools. The aim of this round table is to have the companies that are developing new technologies share with us the not-so-distant future of solutions and tools for audiovisual translation.
